Mindy Musumeci Friday story in Reuters in which his advisers discussed his plans to seek a “middle ground” on climate change. Biden argued, with ample evidence, that he was an early “leader” on climate change but did not specifically refute the claim that his policy plans would be tempered to win over skeptical voters in industrial states with large fossil fuel industries. “I got made fun of because …

But this means that once the trigger is pressed, often by a trivial event, we end up in noise and miss out on the detail and complexity of our humanity. Our capacity for empathy is reduced and we want only to survive, hide, hurt, blame or punish. Many people come to me expecting a quick fix or a solution to their anger. …

Human Actions Are Putting The Survival Of A Million Species On The Line

The United Nations (UN) released the much-anticipated IPBES Global Assessment on Monday, exposing the dire state of global biodiversity in 2019. Close to a million species of plants and animals are at risk of extinction within the coming decades unless we see “transformative change”, the report’s authors warn. And human activity is almost entirely to blame.  The findings echo suggestions of the sixth mass extinction, which some say we are already witnessing. Unlike past extinctions, triggered by extraordinary circumstances, whether volcanic climate change or extraterrestrial objects, this is a disaster directed by us. The key “drivers” of extinction listed in the report are, in descending order: 1. Changes in land and sea use 2. Direct exploitation of organisms 3. Climate change 4. Pollution 5. Invasive alien …

50 Brilliant Child Hacks For Babysitters, Parents, Teachers, And Nurses

By Dakota Corbin Listen up, because Ask Reddit has some hacks for anyone who spends time around little kids. By Dakota Corbin 1. If a child is having a meltdown, ask what color their shoes/shirts/pants/whatever clothing their wearing are. This distracts the child long enough to stop them in the midst of their meltdown because they haven’t thought about what they’re wearing. 2. To get a newborn to burp: Sit them on your knee, holding them under their armpits, and move their upper bodies in a circle several times. Like a reverse hula move I guess.
